Announcing Thirst Missions England

At Thirst Missions our passion is sharing the saving grace of Jesus Christ through the local church. My personal passion is seeing the people of England choose Jesus over the distractions that this world has to offer.

When I started working at Thirst I thought God was using my love for England to show me the importance of serving Christ at home and abroad. That love and passion led me to Thirst and to Belize. Belize has been, and continues to be, the foundation of my love for coming alongside the local church.

In Belize I’ve learned boldness when sharing Christ, that there is beauty in letting go of our plans so we can be a part of God’s plans, and that the local church needs continued encouragement from the larger church family as they work through the daily struggles of living for Jesus.

I have been richly blessed by serving in Belize alongside our wonderful staff and church partners from the US, Canada, and Belize. Through it all my passion for England has not lessened—it has grown. I have prayed, hoped, asked for, and imagined ways that I could support the church in England. Years later, God has answered my prayer: it is with humility and joy I announce that Thirst Missions is expanding to England in 2017.

Why England?Why England

Lord Carey, the former Archbishop of Canterbury, has described the English church as “one generation away from extinction.” In a recent survey fewer than 20% of Brits said they believe in God. England is rapidly becoming a post-Christian society, but small churches in the city are fighting back in love, reaching out with the good news of Christ. These pastors deeply desire ministry partners to join them in outreach to the incredibly diverse population of London’s urban core.

We’ll work with the ever-growing refugee population, serving them in Christ’s name, and we’ll join British mercy ministries serving the lost, the least, and the left out.

Our midweek and final day recreation will take on a very British twist. We’ll attend a service in the amazing Westminster Cathedral and on our final day in country we’ll do an open top double decker bus tour through historic London. We’ll see Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, the Tower of London, and St. Paul’s Cathedral, to name a few. We’ll finish it up with a boat ride on the River Thames and dinner out at an amazing London restaurant.
