Hi Friends!
What if one invitation could double the impact of your upcoming mission trip?
You’re already planning your trip with Thirst Missions. Why not invite another church, Christian school, or ministry in your community to join you?
Maybe it’s a smaller church down the road, a youth pastor you know, or a nearby Christian school that would love to participate but doesn’t have the resources to organize a trip on its own.
Imagine what God could do if you served together!
I’ve Seen It Happen!
During my years in youth ministry, we organized two mission trips involving multiple churches.
One brought together a Baptist, Methodist, and Lutheran church. Believe it or not, we filled a bus for a weeklong mission trip in the United States!
Another brought students and leaders from four churches together for an international trip.
Both trips had more than 50 students and were highlights of my years in ministry!
But some of my favorite memories happened before we ever left for the mission field.
I remember gathering with pastors and ministry staff from the other churches to plan, pray, and prepare together. We came from different denominations, but we shared the same heart for students, ministry, and Jesus Christ.
Those times of prayer and fellowship were incredibly meaningful. They reminded us that we weren’t alone in ministry! We had brothers and sisters in Christ serving in the same community, facing similar challenges, and sharing the same mission.
We built genuine friendships and connections across denominational lines that went far beyond the trip itself.
And our students experienced that same unity as they served together!

Imagine 50 students serving alongside other young Christians from their own city or region.
They discover they’re not alone in their faith. They build friendships beyond their own church or school. And they see that what unites us in Christ is far greater than the smaller differences between our churches.
In John 17:21, Jesus prayed for His followers:
“That all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you.” (NIV)
Think about that. On the night before His crucifixion, with everything He was about to face, Jesus prayed for the unity of those who would believe in Him.
And He explained why that unity matters: so the world would believe that the Father had sent Him.
Our unity isn’t simply about getting along. It’s a testimony to the world about who Jesus is.
When students and leaders from different churches worship, pray, serve, and encourage one another, they’re living out something Jesus specifically prayed for!
We don’t have to agree on every secondary theological issue or church tradition to serve together in the name of Christ. We can celebrate our shared faith while respecting our differences.
And there are tremendous practical benefits to bringing groups together:
- More meaningful ministry: More students and adults can mean additional ministry projects, more people served, and greater opportunities to make an impact.
- Stronger friendships: Students develop relationships with other Christians in their own community that can continue long after the trip.
- Shared leadership: Pastors, teachers, and adult leaders share responsibilities, encourage one another, and discover they’re not alone in ministry.
- Greater fundraising and support: Multiple churches and schools bring more families, supporters, and resources together around a shared mission.
- More community involvement: A combined trip can generate greater awareness, excitement, and support throughout your city or region.
- A bigger celebration afterward: Imagine several churches gathering to share testimonies, photos, and stories of what God accomplished!
And perhaps most importantly, we begin breaking down the walls that sometimes separate our ministries.
Instead of serving in our own little circles, we’re demonstrating what it means to be the body of Christ.

If you’re already registered for a trip with us, we encourage you to invite another church or school to join you!
Whether your group grows from 15 to 30 or 25 to 50, we’ll work with you to adjust lodging, transportation, staffing, and ministry opportunities, subject to availability.
We’ll help coordinate meaningful ministry for your expanded team while your churches share leadership, preparation, and the joy of serving together.

Think of one or two ministry leaders in your community. Give them a call and invite their group to join yours!
Maybe it’s a church across town, a Christian school nearby, or a ministry leader you’ve wanted to get to know better.
And don’t wait until the trip to begin building those relationships. Get together beforehand to plan, pray, and encourage one another. You may discover that the relationships God builds among your leaders are just as meaningful as those formed among your students.
That one invitation could lead to new friendships, stronger churches, shared ministry opportunities, and greater unity throughout your community.
Let’s stop doing everything separately when we could be serving together!
