As one team is traveling as I type to Belize is a great feeling to know that God has already prepared and planned their trip just like He does each trip. I am reminded daily of His consistent provision not just in my mundane life and daily tasks but in the big picture and grand scheme of things. God yearns and craves for us to be in a continual relationship with Him. One that we draw closer to Him daily through prayer, worship and conversations with others about His amazing love and steadfastness.
In Revelation 3 God beckons us not to be lukewarm. In this same passage of scripture, He reminds us that He is knocking at our door, standing there waiting for us to answer Him. These two passages paired together in this place of scripture to remind us of ourselves. We have the capability to both change our temperature (our thoughts, attitudes, emotions) and to direct our actions (by opening doors) through the power of Christ and His presence in our lives.
He wants to be invited into our lives and to eat with us and commune with us but God is not going to force Himself upon us. I am thankful that God gives us chances, over and over again, to hear His voice and to listen to where He is calling us to go. He does not give up on us when we ignore Him the first, second or 200th time, He leans in, He listens, and He guides us to where we should go if we just pause for a moment and change our perspective.
As the next mission group is about to land in Belize and their projects, ministry and partnership for this week is about to begin, I am thankful for their willing hearts to listen and heed God calling them to go, to do missions and to reach the lost, the low and the least of these. May we be reminded that this can happen in the beautiful villages and towns of Belize and over our picket fences in our backyards. This outpouring of Christ’s love is one we should never turn a cold shoulder and we should always be looking for the next opportunity to be someone else’s open door when we hear knocking.
Our prayers are with the staff and team on the ground as well as their partnered church that physical, emotional and spiritual needs can be met, and God can be glorified through each conversation.
