Meditation on Missions – January 2016
Make Known among the Nations What He has Done  Missions

By Adam Swenson

Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done. Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts. Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice.

            -1 Chronicles 16: 8-10

God is so good to us, and every believer has a story to tell of God’s goodness. In this case David was encouraging people to tell of God’s goodness in getting the ark of God established in its rightful place in Jerusalem. It was a triumphal moment!

Our stories don’t need to be as dramatic as this one—they can be everyday things like how God helped us through a tough time in our family, or how He worked in a situation at work or school. What stories do you have that can be shared, and how could you tell your story to maximize its effectiveness across cultures?

We are to proclaim, to give praise, to glory in His name, and to rejoice. Where we have established our ministry in Belize, stories of American life can be powerful for people in a Belizean village to hear. They often think of American life as glamorous, and it’s good to be reminded that we struggle too, and we rely on God’s faithfulness just like they do.

Are you ready to tell of His wonderful acts?
