Going on a mission trip is a step of faith – and so is raising the support to make it happen.

The good news is, you’re not doing it alone! God loves to provide through His people, and your friends, family, and church community will often want to be a part of what He is doing through you. When you share your story and invite others to give, you’re giving them the chance to partner in ministry. With the right tools, a simple letter, and a prayerful heart, raising funds for your Thirst Missions mission trip can be both easy and deeply rewarding.

Combine traditional support letters with modern tools:

  • Write heartfelt letters describing your mission location, purpose, and impact goals.
  • Include QR codes or online giving – linking to your registration.
  • Have each team member create a short 30-second video to post on social media.
  • Use a “Sponsor My Mission” format — $25 for supplies, $50 for travel, $100 for ministry impact.

Pro Tip: Have students record thank-you videos for donors and post them in real time during your trip.

Host a meal night at your church or community center:

  • Serve themed food from your destination (e.g., Belize rice and beans, Puerto Rican pastelón).
  • Share testimonies, photos, and videos from previous Thirst trips.
  • Silent auction: donated gift baskets, baked goods, local services, or “mission experiences” (yard work, babysitting, etc.).

Bonus: Include a slideshow with your team’s story and show Thirst Missions location video.

Invite supporters to sponsor team members for hours of local service.

  • Team members commit to serve locally (cleaning parks, painting houses, volunteering at shelters).
  • Sponsors pledge per hour served (e.g., $10/hr).
  • Turn it into a testimony-building experience that mirrors your mission trip.

Display 50 (or 100) envelopes labeled $1–$50 on a wall or digital board.

  • Supporters pick an envelope and donate that amount.
  • When all envelopes are gone, your team raises $1,275 (for 50 envelopes) or $5,050 (for 100 envelopes).

Online version: Use Canva or a Google Form and track progress visually.

Sell items that remind people of the purpose behind the trip.

  • “Thirst Missions Belize 2026” shirts or mugs.
  • Coffee sourced from mission countries (Honduras, Guatemala, etc.).
  • Handmade bracelets with your trip Bible verse or theme.

Message idea: “Drink Deeply. Serve Boldly.”

Offer a weekend where community members can “hire” your youth to help with yardwork, garage cleaning, car washing, etc.

  • Charge hourly donations.
  • Wear trip shirts or Thirst Missions logos during the work.
  • End the day with a cookout and team prayer.

Host a “Run for Thirst” or “Walk for the World.”

  • Participants pay an entry fee and receive a T-shirt with your mission trip logo.
  • Create signs with Scripture verses along the route.

Invite local sponsors or businesses to cover costs in exchange for logo placement.

Partner with your worship team or local Christian artists:

  • Free admission + love offering toward your mission trip.
  • Share stories from previous Thirst Missions trips mid-event.
  • Offer mission-trip themed merch or prayer cards.

Tip: Stream it live to expand your reach and giving opportunities.

Offer to watch kids for an evening or host a one-day kids camp at church.

  • Charge a donation-based registration.
  • Include a short devotional, snacks, and games.
  • Share about your upcoming trip with parents at pickup.

Ask a few church members or businesses to pledge matching funds.

  • For every $1 donated, they match up to a goal (e.g., $5,000).
  • Create urgency: “Your gift doubles if given before May 1!”
  • Promote through your church bulletin, social media, and emails.

  • Share stories of lives changed on past Thirst Missions trips.
  • Pray publicly at every event for the people you’ll serve.
  • Emphasize that this isn’t about money — it’s about mission impact.
