Thirst Missions theme verse for 2023 is Matthew 5:3-10; The Beatitudes.
As we serve this year, we are seeking to cultivate a deeper understanding and practice of these foundational teachings of Jesus. Our desire is to align our hearts and actions with the character of Christ and to bring His love and justice to those we serve around the world.
The Beatitudes are a series of blessings that Jesus imparted upon His disciples during the Sermon on the Mount. These verses offer a radical and countercultural vision of what it means to live a blessed life. Jesus teaches that true blessing comes not from material wealth or power, but from humility, mercy, purity, and peacemaking. He calls us to embrace a life that is marked by a deep hunger and thirst for righteousness, a willingness to mourn with those who mourn, and a commitment to stand with the marginalized and oppressed.
